A signature outlives
a maker’s shift.
Since 2109
Our workshop keeps a lifetime maker register. A maker’s name stays beside the work after another person takes over its care. The successor signs the intervention, not the original making.
Passing the notebook
An apprentice first reads an abandoned adjustment and explains why it was rejected. Making a persuasive new answer is easier than understanding a deliberate refusal. The workshop’s teaching record therefore includes unsuccessful trials and unresolved disagreements.
The notebook is not a mythology of perfect craft. AC-017’s source-handling trials include a mistaken confident answer. The correction remains visible beside the later configuration, rather than being removed from the history.
A custodian’s responsibility
When a work changes hands, the numbered packet should follow it. A detached plate proves little. The next custodian needs the scope, version and care notes, including the limits that made the work possible.
